Monetary aid for the SC/ST Civil Exams aspirants from the Bihar Government

Monetary aid for the SC/ST Civil Exams aspirants from the Bihar Government

Bihar government has announced the monetary assistance for the Civil Service candidates who will clear the prelim exam of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Financial aid of INR 50,000 will be given to the candidates who will clear the BPSC prelim exam and aid of INR 1,00,000 to the candidates for clearing the prelims of the UPSC exam. The aid will be given by the Nitish Kumar led Bihar government under the ‘Mukhyamantri Anusuchit Jati Evam Anusuchit Janjati Civil Seva Protsahan Yojana’ so that students from these classes can focus on their studies without having to worry about the expenses for the studies and preparation. “Under the scheme of the SC/ST Welfare Department, the state cabinet has decided to give one-time Rs 50,000 amount to an SC/ST candidate clearing prelims of BPSC and Rs 1 lakh for clearing prelims of UPSC,” said Arun Kumar Singh, principal secretary, cabinet secretariat department. The scheme is closely based on the principles of the CM’s ‘Students Credit Card Scheme’ under which XII passed students can avail up to loan of INR 4 lakh. The annual family income of such students must be less than 1.5 lakh. A JD(U) source, who doesn’t wish to be named, said “(Former CM) Jitan Ram Manjhiʼs joining the Grand Alliance has done us damage. (Also) recent Araria Lok Sabha and Jehanabad by-polls results clearly showed fragmentation of our Dalit vote base. We are trying to win back the Scheduled Castes. Such welfare measures are part of our Scheduled Caste consolidation move.”
