All Delhi schools to have CCTV camera surveillance by November 2019

On Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a project for CCTV installations in all the schools run by the Delhi government. He said that this will be a ‘historic milestone’. Launching the project at Shaheed Hemu Kalani Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya in Lajpat Nagar, Kejriwal said “over 1,000 Delhi government schools will be equipped with CCTV cameras by November this year.” He further said that private schools have been directed to install the CCTV cameras and they will be strictly asked to implement the order. "It's a historic milestone in school education in the country and the world as live feed from classrooms will be provided to parents on their mobile phones through an app," Kejriwal said. The CM further said that the initiative will help improve the results of the Delhi government schools next year. "There will be no privacy breach, children go to school for education, to learn discipline and become good citizens of the country... they do not go there for anything private," he said. "We would not provide live feed to the parents if the schools were not running properly," he said, adding that the cameras will ensure the safety of the children and will instil discipline in them. Parents of the children studying in Delhi Government schools will be able to see the live feed of the classrooms through the 'DGS Live' app. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. Once the parents have downloaded the app from the store they will receive the SMS from the government control room and will be able to access the lice feed only after complete verification.
