Oldest government college of Rajasthan under ‘no admission’ category

Oldest government college of Rajasthan under ‘no admission’ category

After finding out various deficiencies in the college (from poor maintenance of the buildings to shortage of the faculties), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has place the MBM Engineering college of Jaipur under the ‘no admission’ category. This is for the first time that any government institute is barred from conducting the admissions. MBM college is one of the most sought after engineering colleges of the state but is not allowed to conduct any admission until the administration of the college take corrective measures. The college was established in 1961. Upon inspection, AICTE found that college is running hardly on 30 percent of the required faculties and most of the equipment in the labs of the college are either out of date or redundant. The publication of the research work in the national and international journal shows the decline of the research work and academic activity in the college. Taking into considerations, AICTE declared ‘zero session’ in 2018-19. Commenting on the decision of the AICTE, Puneet Sharma, technical education expert said that ‘it will not affect the future of the students currently enrolled in the college’. He further said that most of the government engineering colleges will face the same fate if inspections are carried out.
