State Government appointed the First Vice-Chancellor of the Bikaner Technical University



Located in the city of Bikaner, Bikaner Technical University based in the campus of the Government Engineering College Bikaner and College of Engineering & Technology, Bikaner. The university is located in the Karni Industrial area of the Bikaner, which is about 400 km from the New Delhi. One of the main purposes of the University was to share the work load with the Rajasthan Technical University, which is located in Kota. Initially, the aim of the BTU was to handle the load of the technical institutes in the 12 districts of the western Rajasthan along with introducing the new courses and research programs which are of importance to the region. After the appointment of the Registrar ML Chauhan in Bikaner Technical University, the Governor of Rajasthan, Kalyan Singh appointed the first Vice- Chancellor, Dr HD Charan, of the Bikaner Technical University for a period of three years. Currently, Dr. HD Charan is Dean of Academics and Professor at the Rajasthan Technical University with M.Tech and Ph.D. as qualifications. Under the guidance of Dr. HD Charan, the BTU will be responsible for the proper working and functionality of the 36 different engineering colleges in the regions of Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaipur (Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Alwar) and Ajmer. Of total 36 colleges, 4 colleges are state engineering colleges and the rest 32 are private engineering colleges. For the proper functioning and infrastructure establishment of the BTU, the state government has sanctioned the initial expenditure of INR 30 crores along with the annual expenditure of the 3 crores. With the establishment of the BTU, the technical students from the rural areas will now have the equal opportunity to study and research.
