Punjab Government canceled exams of classes 5 and 8 and preponed summer vacations

Punjab government has extended the lockdown in the state until May 1 and with this is has become the second state to extend the lockdown. The government also preponed the summer vacations of the schools. Summer vacations will be counted from April 11 and until May 10.Mr. Vijay Inder Singla, Punjab Education Minister informed the cabinet that the government has decided to prepone the summer vacations of the schools. This will enable the schools to deal with the loss of studies due to coronavirus lockdown.“Keeping in purview the #COVID19 situation, Punjab Govt has decided to prepone summer vacations of schools, which shall extend from April 11-May 10. The students of PSEB Class V & VIII shall be promoted based on Exams & Assignments given before the lockdown. #PunjabFightsCorona,” tweeted Vijay Inder Singla (@VijayIndrSingla)The education minister also said that students in classes 5 and 8 will be promoted to the next class based on the exam they have appeared before the lockdown.Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said “parents were worried about the loss of the study of their wards during the curfew and decision of preponing the vacations would give relief to them. He added that all private schools should also have to start the vacations from April 11 but they are free to extend the period as per their requirement.”
